UFC Fight Night 133: Full fight card and preview for Boise event

JULY, 2018

Following back-to-back events this past weekend, the UFC returns this weekend for UFC Fight Night 133 which will be held on July 14, 2018 at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho.

The main event features a heavyweight contest between former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and former WSOF heavyweight champion Blagoy Ivanov.

Dos Santos has not been in action since a UFC heavyweight title fight loss to champion Stipe Miocic in May 2017. Following the loss, ‘Cigano’ tested positive for the banned substance hydrochlorothiazide, however, he was granted a reduced six-month suspension after a USADA investigation confirmed the failed drug tests were the result of two Brazilian pharmacies selling contaminated supplements.

Ivanov has won five straight coming into his UFC debut including three title defenses of his WSOF heavyweight title against Derrick Mehmen, Josh Copeland, and Shawn Jordan. When WSOF rebranded to the PFL, Ivanov was awarded the PFL heavyweight title and defended this belt last time out, earning a unanimous decision over Caio Alencar.

The co-main was scheduled to feature a lightweight bout between #11 ranked James Vick and #14 ranked Paul Felder, however, Vick was pulled from the bout to act as a replacement against former WSOF Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje at UFC Fight Night 135 while, Felder was moved to a welterweight bout against Mike Perry at UFC 226.

The new co-main event now features a welterweight bout between Sage Northcutt and Zak Ottow.

Following a submission loss to Mickey Gall at UFC on FOX 22, Northcutt has won two straight. A unanimous decision win over Michel Quiñones at UFC Fight Night 120 was followed most recently by the same result against Thibault Gouti at UFC Fight Night 126.

Ottow has traded wins and losses in his UFC career thus far. A split decision win over Josh Burkman in his debut was followed by a split decision loss to Sérgio Moraes at UFC Fight Night 100. Ottow then rebounded with another split decision win over Kiichi Kunimoto before dropping a TKO loss to Jingliang Li at UFC Fight Night 122. In his last bout, ‘The Barbarian’ earned his first stoppage win under the promotion, TKO’ing Mike Pyle in the first-round at UFC 222.

Underneath the co-main event is a featherweight bout pitting Dennis Bermudez against Rick Glenn.

Bermudez is currently riding a three-fight losing streak after winning two straight in 2016. A first-round TKO loss to Chan Sung Jung at UFC Fight Night 104 has been followed by two split decision losses to Darren Elkins at UFC on FOX 25 and Andre Fili at UFC on FOX 27.

After winning two straight over Phillipe Nover at UFC 208 and Gavin Tucker at UFC 215, Glenn suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Myles Jury at UFC 219. Both fighters will look to rebound when the UFC travels to Idaho for the first time.

Also featured on the main card is a welterweight bout as Randy Brown meets Niko Price, Myles Jury welcomes back Chad Mendes after an extended absence while Cat Zingano and Marion Reneau clash at bantamweight to kick off the main card.

A bantamweight bout featuring Eddie Wineland vs. Alejandro Pérez will headline the Fox Sports 1 preliminary card while a featherweight bout kicks off the four-fight FS1 fight card as Kurt Holobaugh takes on Raoni Barcelos at 145lbs.

A women’s flyweight bout will feature as the UFC Fight Pass fight card headliner as former bantamweight title challenger Liz Carmouche welcomes former Invicta FC flyweight champion Jennifer Maia to the promotion. A women’s strawweight bout kicks off the action in Boise as Jessica Aguilar meets Jodie Esquibel.
