The UFC 222 fight card now has a title fight in the main event after Max Holloway withdrew from his title defence against Frankie Edgar late last week.

First reported by Ariel Helwani and later confirmed by the UFC, UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg will defend her UFC featherweight title against Invicta FC bantamweight champion Yana Kunitskaya at UFC 222.

UFC 222 will be held on March 3, 2018, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Following a submission loss to Tonya Evinger at Invicta FC 22 for the Invicta FC bantamweight title, Kunitskaya rebounded in her last bout, winning the same title against Raquel Pa’aluhi via unanimous decision at Invicta FC 25.

Edgar, who was left stranded by Holloway’s withdrawal will now face Brian Ortega in the co-main event.

After losing to Jose Aldo at UFC 200, Edgar has won two straight, earning himself a shot once again at UFC gold. A unanimous decision win over Jeremy Stephens at UFC 205 was followed by a TKO win over Yair Rodríguez at UFC 211.

Ortega, who is undefeated in his professional career is coming off the biggest win of his career, earning a second-round submission win over Cub Swanson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 123 to earn ‘Performance of the Night’ and ‘Fight of the Night’ for his efforts.
