UFC 218 will be held on December 2, 2017, at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
A UFC featherweight championship bout between current champion Max Holloway and former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar was expected to headline the card however, Edgar was forced to withdraw from the fight and was replaced by former WEC Featherweight Champion and former two-time UFC featherweight champion José Aldo.
Holloway and Aldo met previously at UFC 212, with the former defeating the latter to unify the UFC featherweight championship.
The co-main event features a heavyweight contest between Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou.
Following a KO loss to Stipe Miocic in a UFC heavyweight title bout at UFC 203, Overeem rebounded with a KO win over Mark Hunt at UFC 209 before earning a close majority decision win over Fabrício Werdum at UFC 213 last time out.
Ngannou has won all five of his UFC contests thus far, earning four KO wins and one submission win. His latest win was a ‘Performance of the Night’ TKO win over Andrei Arlovski at UFC on Fox 23.
