Greg “Ribz” Rebello will fight UFC vet Travis “Diesel” Wiuff for the vacant CES MMA Heavyweight Championship in the main event of CES 48 on Feb. 2 at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I., LIVE on AXS TV Fights.

After CES MMA Featherweight Champion Matt Bessette signed with the UFC, Rebello and Wiuff jumped at the opportunity to throw down in CES’s first headlining bout of 2018. Both fighters are eager to claim the Heavyweight Championship, after it was recently vacated by the retiring Juliano “Banana” Coutinho.

And, with more than 40 knockouts and nearly 30 submissions on their combined resumes, these heavyweights are excited to start the year with a bang on AXS TV.

“I’m happy that Matt Bessette got his shot in the UFC, and I’m even happier to step up on short notice to steal the show,” says Rebello, a proud owner of 14 career knockouts.

“Don’t blink,” the hard-hitting Providence, R.I., heavyweight adds, smiling.

Luckily for fight fans, Wiuff isn’t the type of fighter to back down from anyone. A professional since 2001, the UFC and Bellator MMA vet boasts a staggering 75-21 record, with wins over former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez and former UFC Heavyweight Championship challenger Jeff Monson.

Although he’s close to achieving his goal of 100 career fights, Wiuff is as motivated as ever to come into hostile territory to try to take out Rebello, who’s finished six of his past eight opponents.

“I’ve competed for almost 20 years now and gotten the chance to fight in a lot of first class organizations. I’ve heard nothing but great things about CES,” Wiuff says. “They are a first class group and I’m honored to have the chance to compete for their heavyweight belt. I’m excited to fight again on AXS TV! Greg is a tough opponent. He trains at a great gym and I’m sure will be prepared on Feb 2.”
