Bellator MMA signs former UFC heavyweight Timothy Johnson to multi-fight deal

A former UFC heavyweight is heading to Bellator as it has been announced that Timothy Johnson has switched the UFC octagon to the Bellator cage.

Ariel Helwani reported the bout on MMAFighting.com.

According to Helwani, Johnson fought out the last fight of his UFC contract last time out and decided on signing with Bellator instead of looking to ink a new deal with the UFC.

Johnson traded wins and losses throughout his UFC tenure, going 4-3 with the promotion. In his last bout, Johnson earned a unanimous decision win over Marcelo Golm at UFC Fight Night 125.

Helwani also stated in his report that Johnson’s Bellator debut hasn’t been finalized yet, sources say. He is not currently scheduled to be a part of the promotion’s ongoing heavyweight tournament.
