Alexander Gustafsson vs Volkan Oezdemir verbally agreed for UFC 227

A light heavyweight bout featuring Alexander Gustafsson vs Volkan Oezdemir has been verbally agreed for the UFC 227 fight card in Los Angeles.

UFC 227 will be held on August 4, 2018, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Brett Okamoto of ESPN announced the news.

Following a split decision title fight loss to light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 192, Gustafsson has won two straight. A unanimous decision win over Jan Błachowicz at UFC Fight Night 93 was followed most recently by a fifth-round TKO win over Glover Teixeira at UFC Fight Night 109 earning the Swede a ‘Fight of the Night’ post-fight bonus.

After winning three straight since signing to the UFC including first-round knockout wins over Misha Cirkunov at UFC Fight Night 109 and Jimi Manuwa at UFC 214, Oezdemir suffered a second-round TKO title bout loss to champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 220.
