A women’s bantamweight title clash is officially in the works for UFC 213 as champion Amanda Nunes will look to defend her gold against challenger Valentina Shevchenko at the event.
UFC 213 will be held on July 8, 2017, at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
The event will take place during the UFC’s annual International Fight Week.
MMAFighting reported the news.
Following a three-fight winning streak with wins over Shayna Baszler, Sara McMann and her challenger at UFC 213, Valentina Shevchenko, Nunes earned a title shot over then champion Meisha Tate at UFC 200, winning the belt with a first-round TKO. Nunes then defended the title against former champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 207, earning another first-round TKO.
Since dropping a unanimous decision to Nunes at UFC 196, Shevchenko has won two straight. A unanimous decision win over former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm was followed by a second round submission over Ultimate Fighter winner Julianna Peña at UFC on Fox: Shevchenko vs. Peña. The win also earned Shevchenko a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus.
