A former UFC title challenger is extremely close to signing with Bellator MMA.
Valarie Létourneau, who fought for the UFC strawweight title at UFC 193 against Joanna Jędrzejczyk is close to finalising a new contract with Bellator. MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani reported the news. Helwani stated ‘If all goes well, as it is expected to, the promotion is expected to announce the signing imminently.’

Following three losses in a row, Létourneau parted ways with the UFC earlier this year.
In her first three fights with the promotion, the Canadian went 3-0, earning three decision wins over Elizabeth Phillips, Jessica Rakoczy and Maryna Moroz earinng her a title shot against Jędrzejczyk in Austalia.
Létourneau would eventually lose the fight via unanimous decision.
Following the loss, Létourneau would lose to Joanne Calderwood via third-round TKO before dropping a split decision to Viviane Pereira at UFC 206, where Létourneau also missed weight.
