The rematch is happening.

Per Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting, the rematch between UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and former champion Jon Jones is on the verge of being finalised for UFC 214.

UFC 214 will be held on July 29, 2017, at Honda Center in Anaheim, California, U.S.

This fight has been booked five times, however, only one fight has taken place where Jon Jones won a unanimous decision over Cormier at UFC 182 in Las Vegas.

Jones (22-1) hasn’t fought since last April when he defeated Ovince Saint Preux via unanimous decision at UFC 197. The former light heavyweight champion was pulled from UFC 200 three days before the event last July when it was revealed that he tested positive for two banned substances, Clomiphene and Letrozole, in an out-of-competition drug test prior to his rematch against Cormier.

Since the loss to Jones, the only loss of his professional MMA career, Cormier (19-1) won the title against Anthony Johnson Submission at UFC 187, defended the title against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192, defeated Anderson Silva at UFC 200 and most recently defended his title for a second time, rematching with Anthony Johnson and earned a second-round submission victory.
