Marlon Moraes has a new home, with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Moraes (18-4-1 MMA) is the former World Series of Fighting bantamweight champion whose contract expired last year. The Brazilian then tested free agency and has now agreed terms with the UFC. MMAFighting reported the news.
MMAFighting is also reporting that Moraes’ first fight with the company will take place against top contender Raphael Assuncao at UFC 212 in Brazil.
UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway will be held on June 3, 2017 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Moraes has not lost in an MMA contest since 2011, going 13-0 with five title defences in this time for WSOF.
Assuncao (24-5 MMA) had a seven-fight winning streak snapped by former UFC bantamweight champion at UFC 200, however, rebounded from the loss with a split decision win over Aljamain Sterling at UFC UFC on Fox: Shevchenko vs. Peña in Denver early this year.
