Late last night, the UFC officially announced the co-main event of UFC 209 to be an interim UFC Lightweight championship bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and The Ultimate Fighter: Team Lesnar vs. Team dos Santos welterweight winner Tony Ferguson.
UFC 209: Woodley vs. Thompson 2 will be held on March 4, 2017, at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
Not everyone is happy, however, with the UFC’s decision to award this contest ‘interim’ status. The coach of the current UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor is one of those people.
John Kavanagh, the head coach at SBG Ireland posted the following on Friday morning.
