With current Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg currently competing in the UFC, Invicta has announced today that the featherweight main event of Invicta FC 21 between Megan Anderson and Charmaine Tweet will now become an interim title fight.
Invicta FC 21 takes place on January 14th, 2017 at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Missouri.
Cyborg is also currently facing a one-year suspension after failing a USADA drug test last month.
Anderson (7-2) has won three straight under the Invicta banner, earning all of these wins by KO. The 26 year-old is coming off a first round KO victory over Peggy Morgan at Invicta FC 18: Grasso vs. Esquibel
Following a title fight loss to Cyborg at Invicta FC 11, Tweet (9-5) returned to the promotion after two-wins under the Prestige FC banner by earning a first-round TKO win over Latoya Walker at Invicta FC 17: Evinger vs. Schneider.
