UFC 209 will be held on March 4, 2017, at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
Hunt faced a returning Brock Lesnar on 9 July 2016 at UFC 200, but lost by unanimous decision. However, it was revealed that Lesnar had tested positive for a banned substance in a pre-fight drug test. The UFC announced that Lesnar tested positive for the same banned substance on a second, in-competition sample.
On 23 August, the Nevada Athletic Commission confirmed that Lesnar twice tested positive for the oestrogen blocker clomiphene and that he has been temporarily suspended.
Overeem is coming off a UFC heavyweight title fight loss to Stipe Miocic at UFC 203. Prior to the loss, Overeem was riding an impressive four-fight winning streak including a ‘Performance of the Night’ TKO win over Andrei Arlovski.
With this announcement, UFC 209 now looks like this:
Mark Hunt vs. Alistair Overeem
Iuri Alcântara vs. Luke Sanders
