The UFC has booked an inaugural female featherweight championship bout between Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie.
ESPN reported the news.
UFC 208 will be held on February 11, 2017 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Holm (10-2 MMA) will attempt to become the fourth fighter in UFC history to win titles in multiple weight classes. If successful, she would join Conor McGregor, BJ Penn and Randy Couture. Holm lost the women’s bantamweight title to Miesha Tate at UFC 196 before dropping a unanimous decision to Valentina Shevchenko at UFC on FOX 20 earlier this year in Chicago.
de Randamie (7-3 MMA) has only lost one of her four bouts inside the octagon. Winning her UFC debut against Julie Kedzie, de Randamie went onto to lost to now bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC:Fight for the Troops 3. Since then, the dutch striker has gone on a two-fight win streak, earning TKO wins over Larissa Pacheco at UFC 185 and a TKO win over Anna Elmose at UFC Fight Night 87.
With this fight announcement, UFC 208 now looks like this:
