Before Brendan Allen tries to take Sidney Wheeler’s Valor Fights Middleweight Championship at Valor Fights 39 on Friday night in Knoxville, LIVE on FloCombat, he sat down with MMA Mad.
Q: How do you rate the camp that you’ve had, on a scale of one to 10?
A: Man, I’d have to say it’s been a 10, all things considered. There haven’t been any injuries or anything like that, so I’m going to give it a 10. Everything has been good.
Q: How ready are you for Friday night?
A: I’m super ready, man (laughs). I couldn’t be any better at this point in time. My weight is great, my cardio is great, my technique feels on-point. I couldn’t get any better right now, and I’m excited to showcase everything I’ve been working on.
Q: What does the Valor Fights Middleweight Championship mean to you?
A: It’ll mean that I’m the best from down here. He’s supposed to be the best from his area. We’re going to put it together and see who’s best. I’m ready to show that I’m the best, and I’m ready for whatever is next in my career, whatever that may be.
Q: With a win, do you see yourself getting a call from the UFC?
A: Honestly, I don’t foresee it from beating him, but I do see it coming soon in the year coming up, as long as I stay active and stay winning, obviously. If I beat Sid, I think I’m two more good fights from getting that opportunity.
Q: What are your goals in MMA?
A: I just do it for the competition, man. I just want to be competitive and make that money. I’m getting paid for what I love, and I couldn’t be happier (laughs).
