Before Dre Miley returns to action at Valor Fights 39 in Knoxville on December 2, live on FloCombat, the up-and-coming Knoxville fighter checked in with MMA Mad.
Is this the biggest fight of your career?
I can’t really answer that. What I can say is that I approach every fight as being bigger than the last, so I guess I have to say this is the biggest fight of my career, so far.
Have you always had that mindset?
Oh yeah. I’m always looking at the person across from me as the toughest challenge of my career. Then it doesn’t matter what I’ve done in the past, or what I have planned for the future; I just have to take my opponent out.
Where does your motivation as a fighter come from?
It’s the inner drive to be better, and to accomplish things that some people perceive can’t be done. It’s for my son, too — he’s my motivation for everything.
What are your goals in MMA?
Currently, I want to knock on the door of the UFC and tell them that I’m here. I want to fight the toughest guys I can, take them out, and show the UFC that I’m ready make an impact on that level.
Are you ready now?
I’m working as hard as I can every day to be the best that I can be, I’ll tell you that much (laughs).
