Following Joe Silva’s retirement, matchmaking for UFC divisions has been adjusted

Earlier this year, following the UFC sale, longtime matchmaker Joe Silva announced he was retiring from matching UFC fighters.

Following this announcement, the UFC hired former Legacy FC owner and president Mick Maynard to assist current matchmaker Sean Shelby for matchmaking duties.

Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com is reporting today that Sean Shelby, was recently promoted to Senior Vice President of Talent Relations, while Mick Maynard is now the Vice President of Talent Relations.

With these changes, divisional matchmaking has been given a shake-up also. Check out which divisions will be managed by which matchmaker below:

Sean Shelby’s matchmaking divisions

Women’s strawweight
Women’s bantamweight
Male bantamweight
Male featherweight
Male lightweight
Male welterweight

Mick Maynard’s matchmaking divisions

Male flyweight
Male middleweight
Male light-heavyweight
Male heavyweight

 

Per Helwani, most managers and fighters have already been notified of the changes.
