After more than a year away from the cage, Dinis “Sweetbread” Paiva makes his long-awaited return on a special Thanksgiving Eve event on November 23 at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I.
Newly married and hungry to compete again, Paiva makes his 14th career appearance in the CES MMA cage at #CES40 versus battled-tested, Oregon striker Zane Behrend.
The longest layoff of Paiva’s career has paid dividends in his personal life, and now the hard-hitting Rhode Island product expects the same results in the cage. “I’m dying to get back in there. Everything outside of the cage has come together for me, and this is the last piece of the puzzle,” said Paiva with a smile.
“I’m one of the hardest hitters out there, and I can’t wait to put my hands back to work in the cage and put on a show for all my fans. Let’s go, man.”
A retired member of the Armed Forces with tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq, Behrand is no stranger to hostile territory. He knows Paiva is one of the Northeast’s most popular fighters, and he’s looking forward to spoiling Thanksgiving for “Sweetbread” and his fans.
“I’m OK with being the bad guy; I’m more than OK with upsetting the fan favorite,” offered Buchanan, who’s also a fisherman in Alaska. “Dinis is going to be in for a long night and it’s not going to be sweet for his fans!”
