UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor won the belt by defeating Jose Aldo via first round knockout. Since then, he has fought two fights outside of the division, with a third fight looming at UFC 205 vs. Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez.
In this time, Jose Aldo has fought and defeated Frankie Edgar for the Interim Featherweight Championship with the promise that a rematch with McGregor was in his immediate future. Tired of waiting, Aldo has stated that the only fight he will take is a fight against McGregor, even threatening to walk away from the sport if he doesn’t get what he wants.
Is that a fair request? Should McGregor be forced to defend his featherweight belt? Is Aldo really going to walk away from the sport? MMA Mad’s Nick Rizner weighs in.
