Four bouts have officially been announced for the historic UFC 205 card in New York.
UFC 205 will be held on November 12, 2016 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
A featherweight bout between Frankie Edgar and Jeremy Stephens, a middleweight bout between Rafael Natal and Tim Boetsch, another middleweight bout between Rashad Evans and Tim Kennedy and a women’s bantamweight bout between Liz Carmouche and Katlyn Chookagian have all been added to the card.
Edgar (20-5-1 MMA) was always likely to end up being on this card due to his ties with New York. Following a five-fight winning streak which earned Edgar three post-fight bonuses, ‘The Answer’ lost his last bout via unanimous decision for the interim featherweight title at UFC 200 against Jose Aldo.
Stephens (25-12 MMA) has traded wins and loses in his last four bouts. A unanimous decision loss to Max Holloway at UFC 194 was followed by a unanimous decision win over former bantamweight champion Renan Barao at UFC Fight Night: Almeida vs. Garbrandt.
Kennedy (18-5 MMA) has not fought inside the octagon since his controversial TKO loss to top contender Yoel Romero at UFC 178 which earned both fighters ‘Fight of the Night’ honours.
Evans (19-5-1 MMA) is dropping down to middleweight for the first time in his career. The former UFC light heavyweight champion is riding a two-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision loss to Ryan Bader followed by a KO loss to Glover Teixeira at UFC on Fox: Teixeira vs. Evans in April.
Boetsch (19-10 MMA) snapped a three fight losing streak in his last bout when he earned a much needed TKO win over Josh Samman at UFC Fight Night: McDonald vs. Lineker in July.
Natal (21-7-1) had an impressive four fight winning streak snapped in his last bout. Chris Camozzi, Tom Watson, Uriah Hall and Kevin Casey all fell to Natal before he lost a unanimous decision to Robert Whittaker at UFC 197.
Carmouche (10-5 MMA) has not fought inside the octagon since a unanimous decision over Lauren Murphy at UFC Fight Night: Mendes vs. Lamas in April 2015.
Chookagian (8-0 MMA) made an impressive UFC debut last time out, also earning a unanimous decision win over Lauren Murphy, this time at UFC Fight Night 91 – McDonald vs. Lineker.Check out our latest podcast episode featuring a conversation with Cortney Casey.
