The UFC has added BAMMA heavyweight champion Mark Godbeer to its roster, however he does not currently have a fight scheduled with the promotion.
FloCombat reported the news
Godbeer won BAMMA heavyweight title at BAMMA 21 by defeating UFC veteran Paul Taylor in the second round TKO. Making his first title defence, Godbeer defeated then interim BAMMA heavyweight title holder and former teammate Stuart Austin, in the second round, also via TKO.
During the last year, Godbeer has been scheduled for two huge opportunities in the world of MMA with none of those coming to fruition. The first, was the RIZIN heavyweight Grand Prix tournament, which he would have to pull out of due to injury and was replaced by Brett McDermott.
He was also scheduled to take part on the main card of Bellator’s debut show in London, however, when he was demoted from the main card without being told, Godbeer withdrew from the show all together.
The UFC has a card at The SSE Arena in Belfast coming up so don’t be surprised to see Godbeer’s name attached to that card soon.
