[Video] Yancy Medeiros opens up UFC 203 with 2nd round submission

Yancy Medeiros opened up UFC 203 with a violent finish of Sean Spencer, that saw him nearly pick up a highlight reel knockout before coaxing the tap with a rear naked choke.

UFC 202 took place Saturday night at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Stipe Miocic versus Alistair Overeem for Miocic’s UFC heavyweight championship served as the evening’s main event.

The first round saw the Hawaiian standing and striking with his opponent and looked like he had gained a slight edge by the end of 5 minutes.  Medeiros seemed to have Spencer in some precarious situations and was taunting him during and after the round.

The second looked similar to the first, but only for a few seconds before Medeiros landed a head kick that planted Spencer on the mat.  He leaped in for a guillotine and then switched to a rear naked choke when Spencer somehow survived the initial submission.  He couldn’t survived the second, though, and was forced to tap at the 0:49 mark.

Medeiros moves to 13-4 with the victory and Spencer slips to 12-6.
