The signing of the rematch between Raisov and Bobner see’s a re-run of one of the most explosive and controversial fights that has ever taken place in the ACB cage.
Coming in to their first encounter in May of this year, Raisov was 4 fights in to his pro-career and had been victorious in them all. A strong wrestler with excellent submissions his fights showed the traits of taking his opponents in to deeper waters where he had then submitted 3 of his 4 opponents.
For his 5th fight he faced a step up in competition in more experienced Michael Bobner. Bobner had a record of 8-3 going in to the bout and he has proved devastating in this weight class as all 8 of his wins had come by stoppage and 7 of those coming within the very first round.
On May 28th these two fighters came together for ACB 39 in what became a bloody battle that had it all – including controversy. The pendulum of momentum swung from fighter to fighter and after 3 hard fought rounds the decision was given to Raisov.
This result and the refereeing in the bout drew heavy criticism and the Russian Federation stepped in to look at what happened on that night. They also agreed that the bout was not officiated correctly and overturned the decision making it a ‘No Contest’ and ACB called for the fight to take place again.
On October the 1st at The SSE Hydro the Scottish fans in attendance will get to see round 4 (and potentially 5 and 6) of this already epic battle. Both fighters now know each other well and neither will look to give an inch as they will not be keen to leave this one in the hands of the judges.
