Kody Nordby plans on re-staking his claim as one of New England’s top bantamweight fighters.
But the Cumberland product’s path must go through submission specialist Branden Seyler, when the cage door locks at CES38 on September 23 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.
When asked about the match-up, Nordby, one of the most polarizing figures in New England MMA circles, amped it up once again.
“I don’t even know who this kid is. A who’s who of guys in the MMA scene were messaging me asking who I was going to fight. Nobody had even heard of him,” said Nordby. “I accepted the first name I was given. He’s not impressed with me? We’ll see about that. I’m not impressed with him — I don’t think anyone is.”
Seyler, a Bellator vet fighting out of the City of Brotherly Love, has no love for Nordby.
Seyler first became aware of Nordby thanks to AXS TV Fights, when he witnessed the epic five-round war with current CES MMA Bantamweight Champion Andre Soukhamthath.
Seyler looks forward to fighting on AXS TV, but is even more excited to play spoiler on September 23 at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
“I’m going to dictate the pace and decide where this fight goes, and how I win,” said Seyler. “And after I put Kody away, if Andre Soukhamthath isn’t in the UFC yet, I’d love a shot at him.”
