Tankō Fighting Championships holds its first event this weekend. TFC 1 will take place on August 13th, at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.
The main event features a Manchester grudge match between Brendan Loughnane and Eden Newton.
Loughnane, who is currently ranked sixth in Europe at both lightweight and featherweight has 11 wins in 13 contests.
The former FCC Lightweight Champion and UFC athlete’s last victory was an emphatic win versus former UFC fighter Dave Lee at FCC 15, in which Loughnane sent Lee to the canvas three times before the bout was stopped via KO in the first round.
Eden Newton, a Manchester based lightweight has a fight record of nine wins and four losses. Newton is coming off a first round TKO win over Reece Street at ICE FC 9 in 2015.
A pair of Ultimate Fighter vets will feature in the co-main event as Saul Rodgers will meet Andre Winner in Manchester.
Rogers was scheduled to face Artem Lobov in the Ultimate Fighter season 22 finale however, it was revealed that Rogers was pulled from the tournament finale due to visa issues. He was replaced by Ryan Hall. Rogers last MMA win came in a TKO win over Nozomi Mine in 2015.
Winner halted a two-fight losing streak in his last bout. Two unanimous decision losses to Leszek Krakowski and Akop Stepanyan was followed by a split decision win over Abner Lloveras at SHC 11 in June.
Also featured on the card is an amatuer welterweight title fight between Lawrence James and Matt Boner.
