Report: Cyborg vs. Lansberg and Barao vs. Nover added to UFC Fight Night 95

It looks like Cris Cyborg’s next opponent will be in the UFC after all following reports that she may return to Invicta to defend her 145lbs title. A report from Brazilian site UOL is stating that Cyborg will take on Lina Akhtar Lansberg in the main event. They are also reporting that Renan Barao will face Phillipe Nover at the event.

UFC Fight Night 95 will be held on September 24, 2016, at Ginásio Nilson Nelson in Brasília, Brazil. The event in Brasília will be the second that the organization hosted in the Brazilian capital city, with the first being UFC Fight Night 51 in September 2014.

Cyborg (16-1-1) made her UFC debut last time out following her third title defense of her Invicta crown against Daria Ibragimova at Invicta FC 15: Cyborg vs. Ibragimova. At a catchweight bout of 140lbs, Cyborg dominated Leslie Smith and earned a first round TKO at UFC 198.


Lansberg (6-1 MMA) lost her MMA debut however has rebounded with six straight victories. In her most recent bout, Lansberg defeated Maria Hougaard Djursaa via TKO at Odense Fight Night 5 – Last Call in March.

Barao (33-4-1 MMA) is on the first two-fight losing skid of his career. A title fight rematch against TJ Dillashaw ended in a TKO loss for Barao at UFC on Fox: Dillashaw vs. Barão 2 which was followed by a unanimous decision loss to Jeremy Stephens at. UFC Fight Night: Almeida vs. Garbrandt.

Nover (11-6-1 MMA) won his UFC debut against Yui Chul Nam via split decision against UFC Fight Night: Edgar vs. Faber. However, in his last bout, Nover lost a split decision to Zubaira Tukhugov at UFC Fight Night: Namajunas vs. VanZant.
