Rafael dos Anjos vs. Tony Ferguson headlines TUF Latin America 3 Finale

A huge lightweight bout between former champion Rafael dos Anjos and top contender Tony Ferguson has been added to the upcoming TUF Latin America 3 Finale card. Champions.co confirmed the bout which was first rumoured by TalkMMA on twitter.

Dos Anjos (25-8 MMA) won the UFC lightweight title when he faced Anthony Pettis on March 14, 2015, at UFC 185 via unanimous decision in a dominant fashion. The win also earned him a Performance of the Night bonus award. For his first title defense, dos Anjos faced Donald Cerrone in the main event at UFC on Fox 17 on December 19, 2015, winning via TKO at just 66 seconds into the first round, resulting in the fastest finish in UFC Lightweight title history.Dos Anjos was expected to face Conor McGregor on March 5,

Dos Anjos was expected to face Conor McGregor on March 5, at UFC 196 for his second title defense of the lightweight belt. However, it was announced on February 23 that Dos Anjos had been forced out of the fight after breaking his foot during training.

In his second title defense, Dos Anjos faced Eddie Alvarez on July 7, at UFC Fight Night 90. Despite closing as a three-to-one favorite to win the fight, he lost the bout via TKO in the first round.

Ferguson (21-3 MMA) is riding a divisional best eight-fight winning streak earning four post fight bonuses in his last four victories. The Ultimate Fighter winner was expected to face Michael Chiesa on July 13, at UFC Fight Night 91, however, Chiesa pulled out of the fight on June 27 citing injury and was replaced by promotional newcomer Landon Vannata. Despite being dropped and nearly finished with strikes in the first round, Ferguson rallied to defeat the fatigued Vannata via submission in the second round. Both participants were awarded Fight of the Night.
