Carlos Condit vs. Demian Maia moved from UFC 202 to UFC on FOX 21

The UFC announced today No.3 ranked welterweight contender Demian Maia will battle No.5 ranked Carlos Condit will compete in the main event of UFC on FOX 21.The two were originally slated to meet at UFC 202 on August 20.

UFC on Fox 21 will be held on August 27, 2016, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

A former UFC middleweight championship challenger, Maia is currently on the most dominant run of his career. The decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt has won five consecutive bouts, besting Matt Brown, Gunnar Nelson, Neil Magny, Ryan LaFlare and Alexander Yakovlev during this streak. A victory over former UFC interim champion Condit sends an emphatic message to the stacked 170-pound division.

Following a razor-thin split decision loss to welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in January, Condit aims to get back in the title hunt by dispatching Maia in impressive fashion. A dynamic and versatile striker, with a slick submission game of his own, Condit holds spectacular victories against Thiago Alves, Martin Kampmann, Nick Diaz, Dong Hyun Kim and Dan Hardy. He will also be returning to Rogers Arena, where he dramatically stopped Rory MacDonald in 2010.

With this change, UFC on FOX 21 now looks like this:

Damien Maia vs. Carlos Condit
Anthony Pettis vs. Charles Oliveira
Gareth McLellan vs. Alessio Di Chirico
Paige VanZant vs. Bec Rawlings
Enrique Barzola vs. Kyle Bochniak
Chad Laprise vs. Thibault Gouti
Jim Miller vs. Joe Lauzon
Felipe Silva vs. Shane Campbell
