The UFC has today announced that they are returning to Texas and have now officially added two exciting bouts to their debut in Hidalgo. Michael Johnson vs. Dustin Poirier is slated for the main event whilst Derek Brunson vs Uriah Hall will feature as the co-main event.

UFC Fight Night 94 will be held on September 17, 2016, at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. This will be the first that the promotion has hosted in Hidalgo.

Johnson (16-10) is riding his third two-fight losing streak of his career. A split decision loss to Beniel Dariush was followed up by a ‘Fight of the Night’ unanimous decision loss to Nate Diaz at UFC on Fox: dos Anjos vs. Cerrone 2 in December of last year.

Poirier (20-4) has looked impressive since moving to lightweight following a first round TKO loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 178. ‘The Diamond’ has earned victories over Bobby Green (KO), Joseph Duffy (Decision), Yancy Medeiros (TKO) and Carlos Diego Ferreira (TKO).

Brunson was recently forced out of his UFC 200 bout with Gegard Mousasi due to an eyesight problem stemming from corrective surgery he had a few years ago.

Hall, the “Ultimate Fighter” finalist, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Robert Whittaker at UFC 193. Prior to the loss, Hall stunningly knocked out Gegard Mousasi last September.

These are the first two bouts added to the event however more are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
