Conor McGregor and Holly Holm both pick up ESPY’s at a star-studded event in Los Angeles last night.
The 2016 ESPYs, voted on by fans, were hosted by WWE star and actor John Cena and aired live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler were up for best fighter whilst former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm was up for best upset.
McGregor won the best fighter award ahead of Lawler, Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alverez.
The Irishman won the UFC featherweight title by defeating long-reigning champion Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds at UFC 194 in December. McGregor will rematch Nate Diaz at UFC 202 following the Diaz win at UFC 196 earlier this year.
Holm would also win the award she was nominated for. ‘The Preachers Daughter’ earned upset of the year for her shocking headkick KO over Ronda Rousey at UFC 193. Holm bested Middle Tennessee win against Michigan State and Roberta Vinci’ win against Serena Williams, US Open.
