Brazil’s time without a UFC champion lasted only a couple of days thanks to Amanda Nunes’ dismantling of Meisha Tate in the main event of UFC 200.
UFC 200 is being held tonight (July 9, 2016) at the T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada.
The event will be the first that the organization has hosted at T-Mobile Arena, which opened in April 2016. It takes place during the UFC’s annual International Fight Week and marks the second time the UFC has held host three events in consecutive days.
Miesha Tate vs. Amanda Nunes took place on the main card which aired on PPV.
It was Tate who took early control of the center of the cage, but Nunes soon took that position before the two settled in to throw simultaneous strikes. Tate secufed a takedown, but Nunes popped right back up. Nunes stunned Tate with a jab around the 3:00 minute mark. Nunes upped the output and had AMeisha in a huge amount of trouble. Tate tried to escape, but was cut and having trouble putting distance between her and Nunes. Tate crumbled and Nunes ended up taking her back. Moments later she sunk in the choke and became the UFC women’s bantamweight champion!
The finish came via rear naked choke at 3:16 of round one.
