Tim Means vs. Sean Strickland added to UFC 202 in Las Vegas


UFC 202 is taking shape as a welterweight bout between Tim Means and Sean Strickland has been added to the card. ABQJournal first reported the bout.

UFC 202 will be held on August 20, 2016 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The event is expected to be headlined by a welterweight rematch between The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner and former lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz and current UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor.

Means (25-7-1 MMA) is coming off a one punch KO win over John Howard at UFC Fight Night: Namajunas vs. VanZant. Means was expected to face Donald Cerrone on February 21, 2016 at UFC Fight Night 83, however, Means was pulled from the fight as a result of a violation of the USADA anti-doping policy. He was replaced by Alex Oliveira and will now face Strickland as his suspension is up.

Strickland (MMA) had a tough loss in his first welterweight bout in the UFC, losing a unanimous decision loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Fight Night: Bigfoot vs. Mir. However following the loss, Strickland has won three straight. A unanimous decision win over Igor Araújo was followed by a TKO win over Alex Garcia. In his most recent bout at UFC 199, Strickland earned a split decision over Tom Breese.
