A huge welterweight bout has been added to an ever growing UFC 202 card as former UFC interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit will take on grappling wizard Demain Maia at the Las Vegas event. The ABQ journal announced the bout.
UFC 202 will be held on August 20, 2016 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is expected to be headlined by a welterweight rematch between The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner and former lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz and current UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor.
Condit (30-9 MMA) considered retirement following a razor thin split decision loss to champion Robbie Lawler at UFC 195. The exciting back and forth fight earned both fighters ‘Fight of the Night’ post fight honours.
Maia (23-6 MMA) is on the best run of his UFC career to date. Three unanimous decision wins over Alexander Yakovlev, Ryan LaFlare and Gunnar Nelson and two submission wins over Neil Magny and Matt Brown currently has Maia’s win streak at 5.
