Hot on the heels of yesterday’s announcement Cage Warriors adds two more bouts to the CWFC 77 bill – the promotion’s third event of the year.
The lightweight contests will see Scott ‘The Priest’ Clist square off against Tim ‘The Experiment’ Wilde while Tom ‘K-9’ Green will face ‘The Crazy Kid’ Brad Wheeler.
Cage Warriors 77 will take place at the Camden Centre in London on Friday July 8th and will stream on UFC Fight Pass, kicking off a fantastic weekend of MMA action. Tickets are currently on sale starting at £25 and can be purchased here. http://www.
Scott Clist (10-2-0) returns to action on the back of the biggest win of his career at CWFC75 this past April in London when the 38-year-old beat fellow CWFC veteran Brad Wheeler by TKO. Clist, a powerful striker is on a 3 fight-winning streak – all of his 10 career wins have come inside the distance with 6 TKOs and 5 submission victories.
” It’s an honour to be fighting on Cage Warriors again and this fight is sure to be explosive. Tim comes from a great gym and carries a good record. A win against Tim is going to look great on my fight record and it’s going to move me further up the rankings,” said Clist.
Tim Wilde (8-1) is also riding a 3-fight winning streak since losing to Sean Carter at CWFC74 by submission in November 2014. An exciting striker who holds wins over Jefferson George and Stephen Martin as well as the now UFC signed Damien Brown. The 28-year-old Wilde is an accomplished finisher with 5 wins before the final bell.
Wilde commented, “I am super excited to be back fighting on Cage Warriors. Scott Clist is a tough test for me but I believe my skill level to be much higher than his and I have worked so hard to not win this fight. Don’t blink, or else before you know it, it will be over.”
Cage Warriors Matchmaker Ian Dean said, “This has the makings of a fight of the night contender. Both men have shown themselves to be exciting strikers. Clist impressed everyone at CWFC 75 after getting out of several tough spots before securing the win with his striking in April.” Dean added, “However, I’m a huge fan of Tim Wilde, I think he is one of the best lightweights in the country. Since his loss to Sean Carter he has won 3 fights elsewhere including a huge KO win earlier this year against Martin Delaney and I know he will want to underline his Title credentials with a win in London.”
Tom Green (10-1) is riding a 9-fight winning streak. However, Wheeler poses the toughest challenge of his career and has the potential to be his breakout fight. The 28-year-old Englishman does not leave his fights in the hands of the judges with a record of 5 TKOs and 5 submission wins.
“I am looking forward to lighting up the show,” said Green.
Brad Wheeler (15-10-0) had a 6-fight winning streak snapped in April at CWFC 75. The 25-year-old Englishman is a true Cage Warriors veteran with 12 fights for the promotion (7-5) under his belt. The ‘Crazy Kid’ is always popular with the London crowd, never going for the safe option, always entertaining with a well-rounded style. Despite having 10 submission wins he’s an accomplished striker but the pressure is on Wheeler for this fight as he has a lot to prove after his recent loss to Scott Clist.
Wheeler said, “When I was offered the fight, my first thoughts were who is Tom Green. But I’m glad to be matched back on Cage Warriors and I’m looking forward to starting a new winning streak in front of my fans on July 8th.”
Ian Dean said, “I’m keen to see how Tom Green will fare against an established CWFC veteran on his promotional debut. Green has a great record and a solid reputation but is moving up several levels on July 8th against ‘The Crazy Kid’ who I know is eager to get back to winning ways after his impressive win streak was recently snapped. “
