It looks as though the ban that Dana White put on Ariel Helwani’s credentials at UFC 199 will stick per TMZ.
On Saturday night, Mixed Martial Arts reporter Ariel Helwani was escorted out of the Forum in California by UFC officials prior to Michael Bisping’s dramtic UFC title win at UFC 199.
Helwani who previously worked at FOX and still works for MMAFighting.com reported that Brock Lesnar would return for UFC 200. Hours after Helwani announced the news, the UFC aired a promo video for UFC 200 during UFC 199 confirming Helwani’s report.
The UFC also removed MMA Fighting photo journalist Esther Lin and MMA Fighting videographer Casey Leydon from the event with Helwani.
Dana White gave a statement to TMZ and White specifically stated that the “ban” is a real thing, and that as long as he was president of the UFC, Ariel would never receive another media credential.
TMZ reports that Dana said that if Ariel wants to attend an event, he can buy a ticket. White went on to reply, “He can cover all the events he wants, he just can’t have a credential.”
