It looks as though the date is set for the UFC debut of former WWE superstar CM Punk. Jeremy Botter of FloCombat is reporting that Punk will debut against Mickey Gall at UFC 202.

UFC 202 will be held on August 20, 2016 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is expected to be headlined by a welterweight rematch between The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner and former lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz and current UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor.

At UFC 181, on December 6, 2014, CM Punk announced that he had signed a multi-fight contract with the UFC

In January 2015, Brooks began training under Duke Roufus at Roufusport MMA Academy, alongside former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis and ONE FC Welterweight Champion Ben Askren, however in October, 2015 Roufus announced that Brooks had suffered a shoulder injury, delaying his UFC debut until the next calender year. On February 6, 2016, Brooks was diagnosed with herniated disc in his back, and underwent surgery a few days later.

Gall (2-0 MMA) appeared on the UFC’s Dana White: Lookin for a fight show where he impressed the UFC president by winning his pro debut and calling out CM Punk on the microphone. Subsequently, White signed Gall to fight Mike Jackson (0-1 MMA) at UFC Fight Night 82: Hendricks vs. Thompson. Gall finished the fight in just 45 seconds with a rear-naked choke.

No official news has come from the UFC regarding this fight announcement but stay tuned to MMA Mad for more updates.
