Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor rumour absolute nonsense

A report from the Sun newspaper this morning stated that they can exclusively reveal that Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor have both signed contracts to fight in a boxing only fight worth around ‘one billion dollars’.

They also ‘reported’ that Mayweather is set to earn £100million in the boxing bout, while McGregor will take home £7million.

There are two issues with this report, well three is you count absolute lies.

The first issue is that Conor McGregor is contracted to fight under the Ultimate Fighting Championship. There is no way that he would be able to agree a release in that contract to undergo such a bout with the retired Mayweather.

The second issue are the reported terms of the deal. Why would McGregor agree to such terms? Taking less that 10% of the fighters purse? We all know McGregor, he would not sign this deal, even though he cannot, as stated in point number one.

Even McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh is reveling in the false reporting.

McGregor was originally set to face Nate Diaz in a welterweight rematch at UFC 200 in July, but the SBG Ireland product was pulled from the card after refusing to fulfill media obligations in Las Vegas.
