The UFC and USADA partnership has now been in effect since July 1, 2015 and since then, USADA has tested every athlete on the UFC roster.
Last year the UFC brought on former FDA agent Jeff Novitzky to develop its new anti-doping policy and act as an athlete advocate. Novitzky said the promotion’s new program largely mirrors the practices of the World Anti-Doping Agency, which sets international standards on drug testing.
Looking at the testing numbers since the inception of USADA, current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm have been tested the most out of any athlete under the ZUFFA banner (13 times). Current UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos has been 12 times since July 2015. Check out the numbers below:
Interestingly, former longtime UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva has been tested the most times during 2016, providing blood and urine samples nearly more than double the amount of any other athlete (11 times). Silva, twice tested positive for drostanolone metabolites ahead of his UFC 183 fight against Diaz — first in a Jan. 9 out-of-competition blood test, then in a Jan. 31 fight night urine screening.
