The bout that has been rumoured for the last couple of weeks is now official as Nate Diaz will take on Conor McGregor in a rematch of their UFC 196 main event at UFC 200.
UFC 200 will be held on July 9, 2016 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be the first that the organisation has hosted at the new T-Mobile Arena which is slated to open in April 2016.
The pairing previously met earlier in the year at UFC 196, with Diaz winning the fight via rear naked choke in the second round following a closely competitive first round.
UFC 196 was expected to be headlined by a UFC lightweight championship bout between champion Rafael dos Anjos and UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor however on February 23, the planned bout suffered a setback as it was announced that Dos Anjos pulled out due to a broken foot and was eventually replaced by The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner and former lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz at 170lbs.
With this fight announcement, UFC 200 currently looks like this.
Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor
Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar for UFC interim featherweight championship
Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne
Gegard Mousasi vs. Derek Brunson
Johny Hendricks vs. Kelvin Gastelum
Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Lauzon
Takanori Gomi vs. Jim Miller
