I’m from Cincinnati, but I’ve spent the past five weeks out here in California, preparing with Team Quest for my CES MMA World Welterweight Championship fight against Nah-Shon Burrell, April 1 at Foxwoods Resort Casino, live on AXS TV Fights.
This is the second time I’ve had the opportunity to do my camp at Team Quest, and I couldn’t be happier. The weather is amazing, everyone has been great to me — and Team Quest is filled with some of the most dangerous fighters on the planet, like the legendary Dan Henderson.
I’m a homebody — I don’t even like leaving my house, usually — but before my last fight, my friend Sam Alvey invited me out here to help me beat Gil de Freitas for the championship, which I did, and move a step up in my career, which I have.
I’m currently living with Alvey, who’s won three of his past four UFC fights, and Team Quest is filled with other UFC guys, like the legendary Dan Henderson, and Bellator fighters.
To have the opportunity to train here and learn from these guys is an honor and I’m doing my best to soak up everything I can and improve every day.
That being said, my game has improved in leaps and bounds since I started doing my camps here, I couldn’t be happier I made the transition to Team Quest, and I’m excited to showcase my improvements on AXS TV Fights against Nah-Shon Burrell.
Please tune in each week for another edition of the Chris Curtis Pro Blog, leading up to his fight with Nah-Shon Burrell at CES MMA 34. You can check out Part 1 of the Chris Curtis Pro Blog here.Check out our latest podcast episode featuring Robbie Fox of Barstool Sports.
