Fox Sports is reporting that another bout is in the works for the UFC’s flagship show, UFC 200 as a middleweight contest between Derek Brunson and Gegard Mousasi is in the works.
Mousasi (38-6-2 MMA) is coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over Thales Leites at UFC Fight Night 84 in London earlier this year. The former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion has won three post fight bonuses during his UFC term and was looking for a step up in competition following the win against Leites and the UFC has chosen Brunson as the main to give Mousasi a stern test at UFC 200.
Brunson (15-3 MMA) is riding an impressive four fight winning streak leading into this middleweight contest with Mousasi at UFC 200. A decision win over Lorenz Larkin has been followed up with three TKO wins over Ed Herman, Sam Alvey and most recently Roan Carneiro at UFC Fight Night 83.
The middleweight fight joins former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez against Travis Browne, which is also in the works for the July 9 show at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
