Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne targeted for UFC 200 in Las Vegas

Cain Velasquez

A heavyweight contest between former UFC champion is currently targeted for this summer’s UFC 200 landmark event as reported by Ariel Helwani who reported the news on UFC Tonight.

UFC 200 will take place on Jul 9, 2016 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Velasquez (13-2 MMA) has not been seen in action since his title defeat via submission to current title holder Fabricio Werdum in the main event of UFC 188 last June. He was scheduled to rematch the Brazilian and attempt to regain his UFC belt earlier this year, but fell out of the matchup with an injury.

Browne (18-3-1 MMA) is coming off a controversial TKO win Matt Mitrione at UFC Fight Night 81 this past January. Mitrione suffered multiple eye pokes from Browne throughout the fight, causing Mitrione to have an injured eye, however Browne would eventually win via TKO.

No other bouts have been scheduled for UFC 200.
