My name is Chris “The Action Man” Curtis.

I’m the CES MMA World Welterweight Champion and on April 1, I defend my title against Nah-Shon Burrell at Foxwoods Resort Casino, live on AXS TV in the main event of CES MMA 34.

First, a bit of background about myself.

I’m a lifelong fan of martial arts and started training about nine years ago. After I started to have a bit of success, I had to decide between going to school, where I hoped to eventually become a lawyer, or quit school to pursue MMA.

To the chagrin of my mother, I chose fighting.

I made my professional debut in 2009. Unfortunately I lost it via split decision, then won my next five fights — including a win over Nah-Shon in 2010. I’m an avid reader and have had odd jobs here and there, but MMA has been my central focus for almost a decade.

I’m currently 13-4, with seven of my wins coming via stoppage. In my most recent fight, I took out former CES MMA champ Gil de Freitas in less than four minutes, live on AXS TV Fights.

I’m currently back to training with Team Quest in Temecula, Calif., and hungrier to fight — and defend my belt — than I’ve ever been.

Thank you for joining me on my journey to CES MMA 34, and I hope to have everyone enjoy my first title defense on April 1.
