A lightweight contest has been added to UFC 199 as Dustin Poirier and Bobby Green are set to square off.
UFC 199: Rockhold vs. Weidman 2 will be held on June 4, 2016 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. While this is the first time the organisation has hosted an event at the venue, it will be the fifth time that UFC has hosted an event in Los Angeles County. Previous UFC events in the area were held at the Staples Center.
The event is expected to be headlined by a UFC Middleweight Championship rematch between current champion Luke Rockhold and former championChris Weidman.
Poirier (19-4 MMA) moved to 155lbs following a first round TKO loss to UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor. First round KO wins over Carlos Diego Ferreira and Yancy Medeiros, Poirier eanred a unanimous decision win over Joseph Duffy in his lastest outing.
Green (23-6 MMA) has not been in action inside the UFC’s octagon since a unanimous decision loss to Edson Barboza in November, 2014. Prior to that bout, Green won eight consecutive fights under the Strikeforce and the UFC banners.
With this fight addition, UFC 199 now looks like this:
Luke Rockhold (c) vs. Chris Weidman – For the UFC Middleweight Championship.
Dominick Cruz (c) vs. Urijah Faber – For the UFC Bantamweight Championship.
