The United Kingdom Mixed Martial Arts Federation (UKMMAF) has announced the date for the UK Team trials, to go on to compete in the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) World Championships of Amateur MMA in Las Vegas (USA). The trials will take place in Leicester on March 20, 2016.
Whereas previously several try outs were held around the UK, this year one central location has been selected. Interested competitors are required to register their interest by competing the form below. They are also required to be UKMMAF members, but are able to complete their membership during registration on the day of the trials; membership will cost £35. The cost of participating in the trial is £5.
Successful athletes will go on to represent the UK team at the IMMAF Word Championships of Amateur MMA.
IMMAF Championship events follow a unique tournament format within the sport and competitors are selected by draw to determine who they face in each round of competition. With nine weight classes for men, ranging from flyweight to super heavyweight, and five for women, ranging from strawweight to lightweight, the international event follows the unified IMMAF Rules of Amateur MMA.
