It was going to be one of the biggest fights of the year however news broke around two hours ago that lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos had to pull out of his fight against featherweight champion Conor McGregor due to a broken foot.

Rumors of who will step up to face McGregor are circulating around social media with names like Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz being favoured for McGregor.

Dave Sholler, UFC Vice President of Public Relations, just posted that Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is ready and willing to climb into the Octagon on short notice.

UFC 196 will be held on March 5, 2016 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cerrone last fought this past Sunday, defeating Alex Oliviera via triangle choke in the first round. The fight was at 170lb however, so ‘Cowboy’ would have to start cutting weight sharpish to make 156lbs.
