Former featherweight champion Jose Aldo stated on Wednesday that he would only step back in the Octagon if granted a title fight or a rematch against Conor McGregor.
McGregor defeated Aldo by knockout at UFC 194 in December to become the UFC featherweight champion.
During an appearance on Opie with Jim Norton, UFC president Dana White dismissed the possibility of a McGregor and Aldo rematch happening in the near future.
“It’s one of those things,” White said. “We made the fight the first time and he got hurt and had to pull out. Then we made it again and it ended in 13 seconds. It’s tough to make that fight again right away.”
McGregor takes on Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196 on March 5th and will attempt to become the first fighter to hold two UFC belts at the same time in UFC history.
