Former CES MMA World Welterweight Champion and UFC veteran Chuck O’Neil and Dennis Olson, the battle-tested Bellator MMA warrior, will square off at CES MMA 33, March 11 at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I.
The event, which features a CES MMA World Bantamweight Championship bout between Andre Soukhamthath and Kody Nordby, will air live on AXS TV FIGHTS on March 11 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
O’Neil and Olson trained together several years ago in New Hampshire. While they parted ways without any bad blood, they’re now excited to battle in the CES MMA cage. Both fighters need a big win for their resume and they each provide that opportunity for one another.
“When I was offered the fight, I messaged (Olson) and said at the end of the day, this is a sport, a fight is a fight. I’m still going to respect him before, during and after,” said O’Neil, the East Bridgewater, Mass. fighter. “At the end of the day, I’m going to come out on top and get my hand raised. I feel great right now. I’ve been training hard and this will be a good fight.”
“We trained together for a while, but time goes on and relationships change,” Counters Olson, an Amherst, N.H., fighter. “I don’t not like Chuck, but for the time being, our only relationship is as opponents. No love will be gained or lost in there. I’m going in looking to finish fast.”
