[Breaking News] Velasquez injured; Miocic now faces Werdum for the UFC Heavyweight title at UFC 196

Cain Velasquez’ has injured his back and is out of his title fight rematch against Fabricio Werdum at UFC 196. Dana White announced on Sunday night that the former UFC champion is out of his title fight against current champion Fabricio Werdum at and announced that Stipe Miocic will replace Velasquez on short notice to fight Werdum

Miocic (14-2 MMA) is riding a two fight winning streak and is currently ranked #2 in the official UFC heavyweight rankings. Two TKO wins over Mark Hunt and Andrei Arlovski at UFC Fight Night 65 and UFC 195 respectively was enough to earn Stipe the late replacement call.

With this fight adjustment, UFC 196 now looks like this:
