Boston, Massachusetts: Chris Wade utilized an overwhelming grappling style to take out Mehdi Baghdad in the first round, winning via rear-naked choke at the 4:30 mark.
UFC Fight Night 81 was held on January 17, 2016 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Chris Wade vs. Mehdi Baghdad took place on the preliminary portion of the card which aired on FOX Sports 1.
Round 1: Wade shoots in for an immediate takedown and lands into half-guard. Baghdad forces Wade back into full guard and ties Wade up with a high butterfly sweep. Wade pushes forward and lands a couple of left hands from a high guard. Two minutes later and Wade is landing some heavier ground and pound. Baghdad scoots against the cage and tries to get to his feet but is unable to. Wade is smothering his opponent, preventing any opportunities for a reversal or escape. Baghdad tries to get back up, but Wade switches to the back and starts pushing down once again. Wade uses the opportunity to lock in a rear-naked choke and Baghdad is forced to tap.
